After buying some armor and convincing his father to let him go, Erik became a mercenary. For some reason I felt sorry for him and decided I would be his first patron. While he was okay in battle, he just didn't seem ready when you talked to him. He still talked like a child and hadn't developed his skills very much. Maybe in time, I will give him another chance when he is older and has a little more experience under his belt...

Obviously he won't level unless he is my follower, this is just the thought process of my character. :p But really, has anyone used Erik the Slayer as a follower? If you did, what did you think of him? If not, why not?

I used Erik the Slayer as a follower and I gave him good armor and a good sword. He worked out really well for me since I was a mage-type character and could use a Warrior to handle that fighting. His health is not the greatest though; he died for me while trying to clear out a vampire cave. So yea, just the little bit of experience I have with him. If he fits what you need then I'd recommend him, plus it feels kinda good watching him kill things and be happy since its the start you gave him.

The character that I'm talking about in this thread is a Mage too! I find I hit my followers too much when they are warriors :/ still, I may go give him another try :)

Put him in some legendary armor with good enchantments, him and two dremora lords make short work of anything. After each battle I look at him and go;

In my experience two dremora lords and a bunny could make short work of anything.

Yeah but I wouldn't let him know that, he's my assistant who will end up in an accident one day. Going around hunched over "Yes Master!"

I like Erik, and I use him as a follower more often than some of the other imbeciles in Skyrim, but for some bizarre reason, this fool dies like death is going out of style.

  • Nchuand-Zel - pounded by a Dwarven Centurion Master
  • Avanchnzel - pounded by another Dwarven Centurion Master
  • Western Whiterun Hold - drained of vitality by a revered dragon
  • Fort Greenwall - hacked to death by Stormcloaks
  • Winterhold - roasted by an ancient dragon (and again after I reloaded for his sake)
  • Ivarstead? - hit by my Dragonborn Frost enhanced Shout (dimwit got in my way)
  • Western Falkreath Hold - mauled by werewolves
  • Solstheim - mauled by werebears
  • Northern Eastmarch - disintegrated by my lightning storm spell (dimwit got in my way again)
  • Central Whiterun Hold - struck down by Storm Call (entirely my fault)

He's only the most adorable mercenary ever! He's a bit green and needs some taking care of, but I suppose that's just part of his charm. Kinda like a pet.

I agree he is the most adorable mercenary ever! :3 You can find him in Rorikstead after you help convince his dad to let him get some armor and go adventuring.
I too wish he were a marriage candidate. I haven't taken him on many journeys but I think he is a great follower. <3

After being on reddit i happen to know that Erik was a real guy, who loved the Elder Scrolls series and went to see Skyrim being made before it was released, this was because he suffered from terminal cancer. The people at Bethesda put him in the game with his likeness and called him Erik the Slayer.

I gave him some dwerfen armor and a greatsword. he is now my hunting buddy. I know he is better in light armor but there are very few bandits or other foes out there in dwarfen armor so if things get bad I can tell by the armor that its Erik and can NOT hit him. And yes hes most adorable mercenary ever as MIR stated :)

Hey, that's a great idea to make him stand out! :)
And I actually wasn't the first to say that, even though it certainly is true. :3

Yeah he was a part of the Bethesda forums. He is based on Erik West, who was known as "Immok the Slayer" on the forums and who died of cancer in May 2011. - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Erik_the_Slayer

In any event. R.I.P mate. To Erik, may he live on in our game.

The Nordic lore nerd in me always associates Erik the Slayer with Erik the Red.
